Would Your Company Benefit from a Custom Swing Sign?

In our hometown of Portland, Oregon, a city known for its wide array of quirky shops and delicious food carts, residents are big fans of supporting local businesses. But it’s hard to shop local and/or small when said businesses aren’t effectively advertised to passersby!

Enter our solution: customizable and changeable swing signs. This modernized update to a standard A-Frame sign is perfect for boutiques, plant shops, hair salons, restaurants, food carts, dispensaries, pet stores, gyms, tradeshow booths, music venues, craft fairs, farmers markets, grocery stores, and real estate open houses alike. Keep reading for a peek into how we can create the perfect customized sign for your business and reach out if you’d like to get one started!

SWING SIGN CUSTOMIZATIONS

Your sign can be as simple or complex as you’d like. Between material selection, specialty printing effects, dimension, frames and attachments, and more, we’ll work with you to cook up a one-of-a-kind sign according to your brand and budget.

Material Selection

When choosing your sign base material, it’s important to consider your budget and goals. Are you hoping to handwrite rotating daily specials? A chalkboard-coated MDF or Dibond dry-erase would be best. We'll recommend wood if you’re looking for a more natural or sustainable option. If you’d like to stick magnets to your sign, we’d utilize a steel-faced Dibond. Polycarbonate or acrylic are great simpler options that are still waterproof.

Each material comes in a unique range of thicknesses and colors. Materials can also be layered to create dimension and add complexity. In our Infinity Images sign pictured above, we incorporated dimension by including a 3D “pop-off” logo.

Specialty Printing Effects

Specialty printing effects like varnish and raised printing can create complexity and help your sign stand out on a busy sidewalk. On our sign, the yellow highlight is raised printing, and the background grid is a gloss varnish.

If you choose a transparent material like polycarbonate for your swing sign base, you’ll then have to decide if you’d like to print first, second, or dual surface. First, second, and dual surface printing have different benefits, applications, and considerations. If you’d like your printed design to be displayed on both sides of your sign, dual surface printing would be the way to go. But, if you plan to permanently place your sign against a wall, you may opt for a single-sided sign. In that case, you’ll need to decide between first or second surface printing.

Specialty Cutting Effects

Your sign can feature square or rounded corners. We can also partly route out sections or laser etch text or patterns that will be cut into the material without cutting all the way through. Or, if you’d like sections of the material completely cut through, our large-format cutters can do that too.

Lighting Add-Ons

Lighting is a premium add-on that will require electricity. We can edge-light your sign to help it stand out at nighttime. Or, if you’d like to utilize the sun’s rays to incorporate light without having to deal with electricity, we can route the edges of acrylic to create a sign base that has an “edge-glow” effect.

Frame and Attachments

For cost savings, we recommend that you stick with the 29” W by 38” H steel frame we’ve already designed and engineered. The pivoting legs include levelers underneath to adjust for uneven surfaces, as well as holes for stakes. There are 6 stock powder coat colors to choose from, or we could utilize a custom color for a small upcharge. Of course, we can also engineer an entirely new frame structure for you, but this will incur additional costs.

The sign/frame attachments at the top are another tool for customization. We can utilize strapping like nylon, Velcro, metal, twine, plastic, leather, or even metal rings. Many materials come in different color options, and we can even print on some – like nylon – for added customization.

SWING SIGN BENEFITS

Outside of the obvious benefit of eye-catching advertising, our swing sign solution brings several additional benefits to the table (or sidewalk 😉).

Space-Saving

While we’ll happily create signs for any business, we intentionally designed this frame with small businesses in mind. The base “legs” fold in so that the sign can be stored in narrow spaces when not in use.

Portable

Since the legs are foldable and the hanging sign can be removed from the frame, you’ll be able to carry your swing sign back and forth between your car and events or your storefront and storage closet. While materials vary in thickness and density, and any add-ons will add weight, most fully assembled swing signs will not weigh more than 20 pounds.

Custom to Your Brand

Have we talked about customization enough?! Depending on your brand and budget, we can create a framing system, attachments, and sign(s) as extravagant or simple as you’d like.

Changeable & Cost Effective

This sign/frame attachment system was created to be changeable and user-friendly for the everyday shop owner. Not only can you use your frame and attachments to boast rotating signs without needing to buy new framing systems, but you can also easily swap the signs yourself!

Wind Resistant

One of our biggest issues with the standard A-Frame sign is that they need to be heavy enough to resist strong wind gusts. But, if they’re heavy, then they’re not easily portable. The “swing” aspect of our swing sign means that wind can pass through without toppling your signage. It even adds movement to catch the eye of potential customers. Win-win!
